数理論理学セミナーのお知らせ日時：1月23日(金) 16:00から場所：東京工業大学大岡山西８号館Ｗ棟10階 W1008 話者：鈴木信行（静岡大学）題目：中間述語論理におけるExistence Propertyに関する話題 --- 小野の問題P52とその周辺 --- 概要：始めに中間述語論理の簡単な紹介をします。ざっくり言うと、中間述語論理とは、直観主義述語論理と古典述語論理の「中間」にある述語論理です。つぎに、existence property と disjunction property と言う性質を考えます。これらは、直観主義論理の構成性(constructivity)を示す顕著な性質として知られています。中間述語論理の枠組みでこれらを考察してみると、この2つの性質が独立であることが解ります。これは、小野の問題P52として知られる問題に否定的解決を与えます。今回は、これにまつわる若干のことがらも報告したいと思います。 ------ 本セミナーは定期的に東工大で開催しているものです。初めて参加を希望される方はご一報ください。 ----- 鹿島亮東京工業大学大学院情報理工学研究科数理・計算科学専攻 kashima(a)is.titech.ac.jp

Research Scientist/Engineer Positions at AIRC, Japan (Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning) Applications are invited for research scientist/engineer positions for a research project focused on natural language processing and computer vision at the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC) (https://unit.aist.go.jp/airc//index.en.html) under the auspices of the National Institute for Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) (http://www.aist.go.jp/index_en.html). Applicants are required to 1. Have (or be expected to obtain) a PhD in Computer Science or have excellent skills in software development. 2. Have a proven track-record of research or software development in natural language processing, computer vision, machine learning, or closely related fields. 3. Be eager to explore new fields and to make scientific contributions to the society either through publications or software development. Logic, Algebra and Truth Degrees (LATD) 2016 28 - 30 June 2016 Phalaborwa, South Africa First Announcement The fifth instalment of the conference Logic, Algebra and Truth Degrees (LATD) will take place in Phalaborwa, South Africa from 28 - 30 June 2016. The conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Science of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, at the Hans Merensky Hotel, situated on the border of the world renowned Kruger National Park Game Reserve. Detailed travel information is available on the conference website. Mathematical Fuzzy Logic is the sub-discipline of Mathematical Logic that is concerned with the notion of comparative truth. The assumption that "truth comes in degrees" has proved to be very useful in many theoretical and applied areas of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Philosophy. This conference series started as an official meeting of the working group on Mathematical Fuzzy Logic and has evolved into a wider meeting in algebraic logic and related areas. Its main goal is to foster collaboration between researchers in these areas, and to promote communication and cooperation with members of neighbouring fields. We encourage contributions on any relevant aspects of logical systems (including fuzzy, substructural, modal and quantum logics, and many-valued logics in general). The methods to be looked into are heavily involved with checking whether or not two models (or two classes of models) stand in certain relations. Here the two most-checked relations between two models are back-and-forth equivalence and definability (that is, defining one into another). The alternative, being used increasingly in practice, is to start by writing down the desired properties of the result. The computational steps are then (semi-)automatically derived from these higher-level specifications. Examples of this declarative style include functional and logic programming, program transformation and re-writing, and extracting programs from proofs of their correctness. FLOPS aims to bring together practitioners, researchers and implementors of the declarative programming, to discuss mutually interesting results and common problems: theoretical advances, their implementations in language systems and tools, and applications of these systems in practice. The scope includes all aspects of the design, semantics, theory, applications, implementations, and teaching of declarative programming. FLOPS specifically aims to promote cross-fertilization between theory and practice and among different styles of declarative programming. Scope FLOPS solicits original papers in all areas of the declarative programming: * functional, logic, functional-logic programming, re-writing systems, formal methods and model checking, program transformations and program refinements, developing programs with the help of theorem provers or SAT/SMT solvers; * foundations, language design, implementation issues (compilation techniques, memory management, run-time systems), applications and case studies. FLOPS promotes cross-fertilization among different styles of declarative programming. Therefore, submissions must be written to be understandable by the wide audience of declarative programmers and researchers. Submission of system descriptions and declarative pearls are especially encouraged. Submissions should fall into one of the following categories: * Regular research papers: they should describe new results and will be judged on originality, correctness, and significance. * System descriptions: they should contain a link to a working system and will be judged on originality, usefulness, and design. * Declarative pearls: new and excellent declarative programs or theories with illustrative applications. System descriptions and declarative pearls must be explicitly marked as such in the title. Submissions must be unpublished and not submitted for publication elsewhere. Work that already appeared in unpublished or informally published workshops proceedings may be submitted. See also ACM SIGPLAN Republication Policy. The proceedings will be published by Springer International Publishing in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series, as a printed volume as well as online in the digital library SpringerLink.
